STONE DUST RIDERS: Volume 1
Cool Tunes, Tons of Potential
At first listen, the Stone Dust Riders sound kind of amateurish. Then you read their self-description on Bandcamp and realize that they are indeed literally a garage band. But upon more careful consideration I think you might agree that with some professional mastering and recording, these guys could sound as good as anyone in the genre. The songwriting and the stoner rock vibe are solid, just needing a little polish to be top notch. See what you think: Here is track #5, "Busted":
And now a mellow track with a nice groove: "Bike Ride:" (these guys seems to be motorcycle racing fans, judging from a couple of pictures on their Facebook page)
With only nine purchases on Bandcamp to date, I think the Stone Dust Riders might have been well-served by making this initial release a "name your price" album and then charging for the next release. Call me interested though; I will be eager to hear what the Stone Dust Riders put out next, and hope they will achieve the potential that I believe they have.
