2022 - The Year of Reunions and Releases

2022. A year of reunions and (re)releases. God Forbid, Shadows Fall, Kittie, Fear Factory....what year is this again?

God Forbid will be (re)releasing their epic "GONE FOREVER" on vinyl for the first time in many years and on an "ACID BLOOD SPLATTER" edition. They've also announced that they will play live for the first time in 9 years. They are slated to play at the Blue Ridge Rockfest in September along with a slew of reunion acts including Shadows Fall and Kittie.

Killswitch Engage's frontman, Jesse Leach, is tied to two upcoming releases this summer. Killswitch Engage will be releasing their LIVE AT THE PALLADIUM(WORCESTER) cd on June 3rd. This release was recorded in 2021 at a local (to me) haunt, the WORCESTER PALLADIUM. This was a particular time most bands were either cancelling tours or doing live streams. Now fans can experience this special live performance at their own leisure.
The second release is ironically SEEMLESS's second album "What Have We Become". Purchase St. Records (a fantastic store in New Bedford, Mass. that specializes in Metal releases) is behind the release of this album just as they were behind (re)releasing SEEMLESS's first album last year. This edition is a limited release distributed through REVHQ. The packaging looks fantastic.

The previously mentioned Blue Ridge Rockfest will also host a number of reunited acts the likes of Shadows Fall, Kittie, God Forbid, FEAR FACTORY(new vocalist), Saliva (featuring their original singer) and Saving Abel(featuring their original singer).

LOTD! Fear Factory's Expiration Date

Expiration Date (off the Genexus album)
Fear Factory
Fear Factory's latest album Genexus is definitely one I'd pick if you haven't yet. I enjoyed it from the very first listen. Seeing their new video for Expiration Date reminds me that I need to check back in with this album which has been rotated out of my regular listening schedule due to so many recent releases. This is probably the most melodic track on the album. It does have a retro feel and lends homage to the cult sci movie Blade Runner. They are currently on tour and doing a bang up job. Check out the video and buy the album. That's all I have to say.

Fear Factory streams new album! Genexus release day!!!!! Quick First Listen Review

FEAR FACTORY's GENEXUS is unleashed upon humanity today!

The long awaited return of Fear Factory happens today! That's right, the much talked about and reported about Genexus was released today. Nuclear Blast is currently streaming the entire album, listen above. This is a must listen. FF sound as great as they've sounded in years. This album successfully reaches all the expectations I had for this album after hearing the first few singles the band released. This trumps many of the "comeback" albums that have been released in 2015. The band sounds refreshed, invigorated and ready to write the next chapter of the bands storied career. The transitions between their earlier sound and the latter half of the career comes full circle on this album. Genexus is as stripped down and groovey as Digimortal and as punch heavy as Archetype. The evolution of their sound is helped greatly by the veteran work of Tony Campos on Bass and a return to real drums by Mike Heller. Between the power of Burton's vocals (both the irate and clean) and the electricity of Dino's riffs, Fear Factory has regenerated into a mechanized Jaeger forged with evil intent. This is exactly what I wanted to hear from Fear Factory. They even were able to pull off a really mellow and beautiful tune called "Battle of Utopia" that ties together Ray Kurzweil's theories on "Singularity" which is a theme that flows throughout the entire album.

New Fear Factory - Dielectric

Dielectric
Fear Factory
(Genexus coming August 7th)

Very cool track, as a fan I'm pumped. Everything I've heard off this new album sounds incredible. This delves back into the sound I love the most. Heavy with signature industrial textures and catchy grooves. Everything has a pop to it. Look for this on August 7th off Nuclear Blast!!!!

First Footage of Tony Campos playing with Fear Factory

Earlier this year, Fear Factory announced that Tony Campos would be taking over the role of bassist for the band. With a vast world of experience playing in high profile bands such as Possessed, Static X, Ministry, Prong and most recently Soulfly, Campos rounds out as tight a lineup as the band has seen in years. Tony and FF guitarist Dino Cazares also play together in Mexican metal super group Asesino. Below is the first footage of the band's new lineup with Tony on Bass playing live. Not the best sound quality and you must excuse the fan's singing over the classic "Replica" track but worth watching.

Fear Factory premiere new track/video Soul Tracker

Fear Factory return with a exciting new track, "Soul Tracker", off their upcoming GENEXUS album. This is their first release on the Nuclear Blast label. "Soul Tracker" immediately brings to mind one of my favorite FF albums, Digimortal, yet mixes in what I consider to be their return to a more concrete heaviness found on earlier albums. Fear Factory are a band that I've stuck with throughout many of their changes in style and lineup. We must not forget this is also their first with Tony Campos(Static X/Soulfly) on Bass. I look forward to checking out GENEXUS in August and will review it for the site as soon as I get my hands on it.
