Since launching in Helsinki, Finland, in 1990, Spinefarm
Records has established its reputation on the international rock ‘n’
metal scene, building on the groundswell initially created by home-grown
acts such as Nightwish & Children Of Bodom, acts who broke through
both in Finland and beyond..
As a result of this, Spinefarm joined forces with Universal
Music in 2002, since which time the label has continued to expand in
both stature & sales…
Owned & distributed by Universal, and fully integrated into the
Universal system, Spinefarm now has dedicated offices in the UK (est.
October 2007) and Finland, and more recently in the US and Japan, with
Cooperative Music – an international marketing, promotion &
distribution company, owned by Universal since 2010 – handling releases
in Europe, Australia, New Zealand & South America, with Universal
taking charge in Canada.
Supported by this global network, the Spinefarm roster has broadened
in size & style, taking in developing artists, established names,
plus an ever-growing catalogue, the aim being to align with acts with a
signature musical stance and help to spread their vision around the
world.
In 2012, this roster numbers some of the biggest, most influential
names in the rock ‘n’ metal domain; these include Rammstein, Five Finger
Death Punch, Killing Joke, Apocalyptica, Godsmack, Alice Cooper, 3
Doors Down, Tarja, Ensiferum & more…
At a time of almost constant change within the bizness, the world of
heavy guitar music continues to hold sway with fans the world over, and
Spinefarm – a pure rock ‘n’ metal label driven by passion and supported
by the stability / distribution reach of the major – aims to exist at
the sharp end of the genre, spreading the word and flying the flag.
Long live (heavy) rock ‘n’ roll.
