New Playlist

STONER ROCK #55

After a lot of older playlists, here's a more recent one. As usual, you can catch the Album/Artist/Track info during the first 15 seconds of each song. Again, just sharing music I like in an order that sounds nice. You likely also know that I like to provide the country of origin for each band. While showing the limitations of my musical familiarity, this also attests to the variety of places on earth where we can find people who share our taste in music. Here we have bands from: Argentina Belgium Italy Norway Poland United States

THE BLACK FURS:
STEREOPHONIC FREAK OUT VOL.1

Heavy, Dirty Blues
The Black Furs really remind me in a lot of ways of another Argentinian band, Mephistofeles.  Mephistofeles plays loud, heavy, dirty doom and The Black Furs play loud, heavy, dirty blues.  Their album cover art is so strikingly similar, I suspect the same artist works with both bands (and I'd really love to know if it's Robyn from the old Stonerobixxx blog).  Anyhow, the art draws you in and the music makes you want to stay.  The singer reminds me very much of Kamille from The Grand Astoria, with a hint of Bon Scott.  This is a trio with a powerful sound.  The bass, guitar and drum players are all consummate pros and the sound on the record is top-notch and distinctive.
I reviewed the single "Black Limousine Blues" here, so let's go to the opening track, called "Smoke It Alone":

And check out this short but sweet change of pace, called
"Don't Put So Easy My Name On A Grave":
Here's another band and album that make me grateful that Bandcamp exists.
I'd love to hear this band live, or even to just hear them practice.
Anyhow, $5 gets you 42 minutes of music you can be proud to play loud.
Don't take my word for it; after these tracks, listen to the others here.

THE BLACK FURS: Black Limousine Blues
Name Your Price Single

Trashy and top shelf at the exact same time. Album's graphic design totally reminds me of Robyn from the old Stonerobixxx websites.  That guy turned me on to so much great rock that I'm eternally grateful.  Wonder if he does the art for the Black Furs and Mephistofeles.

Check out "Black Limousine Blues", released on February 28th:

The singer sounds a LOT like Kamille from The Grand Astoria, don't you think?

You'll see that I am a paying customer for this single, and also paid for the "Doomed Blues LP" from 2016, because of 12 other songs in the same league as this one:

interesting album cover:
Can't find any info on the band members' names, but here are a couple of good pics of this Argentinian band:
I've got some more cool music to post next weekend.  Until then, go forth and be heavy
