THE CUMSHOTS
In writing my recent Black Debbath post, I looked into the history of the band and found that three of the band members have been in quite a few other bands. For example, Egil and Aslag are members of Hurrah Torpedo , the band that plays music with appliances. Ole Petter Andreassen, who plays drums for Black Debbath, played guitar in stoner rock legends Thulsa Doom, and in the heavy metal band The Cumshots. The Cumshots are known for their violent performances, in which they have inflicted fractures and lacerations upon themselves. They also had two members of an environmental activist group, "Fuck for Forest", have sex on stage at one of their concerts, incurring an NOK 50,000 fine (roughly $7400). The video is on Youtube if you want to find it. Singer Kristopher Schau, in addition to being a member of Hurrah Torpedo, had a Norwegian TV show called De 7 dødssyndene (the seven deadly sins). The show focused on the history of sin, and in in it, Kristopher and his co-hosts tried to commit each of the "seven deadly sins." Needless to say the show was quite controversial and protests caused many advertisers to back out, while increasing the show's popularity in other circles. Kristopher has the words "Sorry Mom" branded into his abdomen.
Anyhow, I was unaware of this band but have found several tunes that I like from among their four albums. They seem to be on the one hand trying to be too outrageous for mass consumption, but on the other hand many of their tunes really seem to be trying to score a radio hit. If you liked those, you may also want to check out "Go Forth and Fuck", and "Paint You With a Knife", as well as " I Still Drink Alone."
