ISLES OF MARS

It's A New Decade, But The 1970s Have Never Left

Once you've acquired a taste for guitar, bass and drums oriented hard rock, nothing else quite does the trick.  To many of us, 1970s hard rock epitomizes what we love about rock music.  Thankfully, there are enough of us out there that five decades later, we still have bands producing music that preserves the sounds we love in ways that is fresh and new, and not just a rehash of what has already been.

Enter Isles Of Mars from Mannheim, Germany.  This trio has delivered four songs that make me crave a full-length album.  Isles Of Mars should appeal to fans of Crypt Trip, Siena Root, Troubled Horse, Graveyard and the like.

Check out "Lady Atrocity".  This type of sound translates so well live.  I wish this type of band still filled large stadiums.

All four tracks are excellent, but here's the opener, "Psychopompos".  This one was the highlight of my morning commute today.
Isles Of Mars is (l-r):

Gregor K. - Bass
David S. - Guitar / Vocals
David Brechbilder - Drums / Backing Vocals

So much of today's popular music relies on choreography and/or pre-recorded sounds and sometimes even lip-syncing.  Rock stars just stand there and rock.  I'm standing my ground in the belief that eventually rock will dominate the music scene again someday.
