Review - Prong's Unleashed in the West

Prong is often overlooked when it comes to the "big" bands that came out of the 80's. Lead by Tommy Victor, this working man's brand of Heavy Metal has consistently produced really catchy tracks filled to the brim with some of the most memorable thrash riffs in the genre. This "official bootleg" highlights their setlist from last years European Festival Dates. Looking at the list of classics on this you soon realize these guys should be spoken of in the same breath as bands like Anthrax and Testament. Just listen to the opening riff of "CUT RATE". You'll have a difficult time finding a choicer galloping riff anywhere.
Victor has been as much a staple in Danzig as he's been in his own band so I can see why some fans have overlooked the material. Hopefully this cd will wipe off some of the cobwebs and reintroduce some great classic thrash to the newbies out there. If you're not hooked by the time you get to Prong's epic "Snap your fingers, Snap your neck" then you might just want to hang up your denim jacket and find something else to do with your life.
