 SPACELORD: FALSE DAWN

Surrender, Earthling

If you're a regular here, you know I love Spacelord.  Their last two albums both made my top 5 for those years, and I got an interview with them a few years ago.  I just dig the sincerity with which they mash up influences from some of my favorite artists.  Back with their third (and a half) album in five years, Spacelord does not disappoint.

After Decipher, the band spent some time doing Led Zeppelin covers live and a clear affinity for the acoustic side of Led Zep shows up in at least half of these new tunes.
You'll never confuse them for Led Zeppelin, and Spacelord isn't trying copy them; it's just clear that the love is there.

OK, the album art.  Ed is a connoisseur of album art, and False Dawn hits a home run with its stunning use of color, and its combination of a War of the Worlds alien warship with a heavily-pollinated venus fly trap.

These first two tracks are as strong as a one-two punch as you'll get in a good old-fashioned hard rock album:

Apparently it's just Ed and Rich now, but they've produced another gem.

Ed Grabianowski: Guitar and Vocals
Rich Root: Guitar, Bass, Drums
