ULTRA REVIEW DOUBLE-SHOT:
More Classic Than Classic

Is it possible for brand new music to be "classic rock?"  On the one hand, it seems to be generally agreed upon that music has to stand the test of time to be considered classic, yet if new music sounds so much like and fits in so well with these time-honored classics, doesn't it deserve to be labeled in the same category?

Thankfully, arguing is pointless because the bottom line is that there are two recent albums that do old school rock as well as anyone has ever done it.  Call them anything you want*
but there is no denying that fans of classic 1970's rock will want to hear these.
*(you can call them Ray or Jay, but you doesn't hafta call them Johnson)
Hear for yourself:

SVVAMP 2
A trio from Sweden, the land where classic rock has never died.
These are the first two tracks, "Intro" and "Queen:"

SVVAMP:
Adam Johansson (Vocals, Drums)
Erik Ståhlgren (Bass)
Henrik Björklund (Guitar)
You can get SVVAMP 2 here on bandcamp.

MANCHINO: ARTIFICIAL LOVE EP
Possibly one of the worst album covers ever, but easily one of the best rock albums of the year.
Here is one of my favorites, "Lag:"

Drew somehow has similar vocal qualities to John Fogerty, while maintaining an entirely different identity.  And the songwriting and musicianship are top rate.

Manchino is:
Drew Rachel - Vocals
Jeff Blackmon - Drums
Floyd Pourchot - Bass
Randall Broome - Guitar
You can get the Artificial Love EP here for the price of a dollar per tune.

And yes, the rest of these two albums is as good as the tunes posted here.

Rock on
