QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE: Villains
Aggressive Hard Rock As Imagined By Josh Homme
Few musicians have influenced the course of rock music as much as Joshua Homme. It could be argued that the term "Stoner Rock" may never have existed if it weren't for Kyuss, and Queens Of The Stone Age helped to revitalize the genre with their unique take on traditional rock. Josh is one of the great songwriters in rock, and Troy is a guitar god. If you have never thought of him that way, listen again to "Misfit Love", and then to just about anything else he's done. He is disciplined, and seldom dominating the music, but always tearing in up in some way
Check out how "Villains" opens; the tune is "Feet Don't Fail Me." Immediately lives in their all-time greats list:
And now track 2, "The Way You Used To Do." If you watch the video you might lose sight of the fact that this tune really kicks ass, just because the video does not really match the true aggressiveness of the songwriting. Anyhow, Josh is totally weird and totally cool at the same time.
And one more: "Head Like A Haunted House." Only Josh can shred like this while inviting you to dance.
Queens Of The Stone Age Is:
Joshua Homme: Guitar, Vocals
Troy Van Leeuwen: Guitar
Michael Shuman: Bass
Dean Fertita: Keyboards, Guitar
John Theodore: Drums
"Villains" brings you the quality you expect from a Queens Of The Stone Age album, and instantly rises to the upper ranks of their album releases
That's all for now, will check in next weekend
