SLEEP: The Sciences
Entrance Of The Year, And Possibly Album Of The Year

Title: “The Sciences”
Translation: “We are your stoner rock overlords…..”

How did this stay a secret until a day or two before release, and how did this happen for an album as significant as this?

“The Sciences” pulls Sleep a giant step closer to the importance of Black Sabbath in the grand scheme of things.  A couple more albums of this quality, and Sleep will be legendary.  By the way, why release a third version of “Sonic Titan”??  Because the third time is not only the charm, but the title “Sonic Titan” is now validated in a way that cannot be undone.

This new album is breathtaking, pulling in everything I loved about Sleep's "Holy Mountain" album and everything I loved about Earth's "And The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull", in a way that transcends both of those albums combined.

Enough of my babblings, listen to the tune with the coolest title, "Marijuanaut's Theme":

Now the closing track, which is truly special.   It's called "The Botanist".  Give this one some time and you will not be disappointed.

Sleep is:
Al Cisneros: Bass, vocals
Matt Pike: Guitar
Jason Roeder: Drums
Go get this album here or here.

Not sure I will be listening to anything else between now and next weekend, but will post something nevertheless.

Until then, stay heavy.     -ULTRA
